About

Welcome

Cynarina lacrymalis, or doughnut coral

We want to help you make smart purchases that protect the earth—for people and wildlife.

Our focus is where the issues of sustainability and financial literacy meet, a subset we call consumer literacy.

Our work is imbued with the values of Intersectional Environmentalism: joy, resilience, accessibility, justice, and radical imagination.

We are guided by two sets of principles: the 17 Principles of Environmental Justice, drafted at the first People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit in 1991; and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals presented by the United Nations in 2015.

How We Are Organized

Lovethe.Earth is incorporated in California as two separate legal entities—as a 501c3 nonprofit and as a member-benefit general cooperative.

We operate two different organizations with complementary purposes.

  • Our 501c3 organization is formed for public benefit with an environmental education purpose.
  • Our member-benefit cooperative is formed to develop a dynamic learning platform that changes consumer buying habits.
